How To Evaluate Your

Real Estate ‘Coach’

Right now, everywhere you turn you hear people offering Real Estate ‘coaching Services’.

Recently I was interviewed in a long-from podcast about this whole ‘coaching’ subject.  What I have seen and experienced over my 25 years in the industry.  The traps many coaches get caught in… and how that trap ripples to HURT their clients. What the REAL difference is between mentoring and coaching – and why most people get it mixed-up to their detriment.

I apologize in advance of you listening to this audio.  Why? Well, because of my passion for helping people I may have got a little “Direct” (polite word) in my assessment of coaching industry.

You can take a listen here:

What’s the REAL DEAL with all of this coaching and mentoring? And how to assess your coach choice. (Audio)

As some additional information, here are a few questions to ask when beginning your due diligence questions to ask if you are looking for a coach:

  • What is in it for them? Why are they coaching and what are their expectations in the relationship?
  • Do they have a financial incentive to get me to take a particular action based on the information they’re giving me?
  • Are they trying to coach me by getting me to buy a piece of Real Estate they are selling me?
  • Do they have experience in the market or are they part of the cult of opinion? (The coaches who know someone who knows someone who did something somewhere. That’s not good enough experience for you!)
  • Are they currently investing in real estate and using the strategies they’re teaching?
  • Do they have an absolute bare minimum of 10+ real estate transactions to their name, thereby giving them the experience of dealing with different buying and selling situations?
  • Have they been investing for at least five years, preferably 10 years, giving them experience in different market conditions? It’s even better if they’ve been through a full up and down real estate cycle, which often takes a decade or more.

Force yourself to ask the tough questions, and not allow yourself to commit to a coach until all the homework is done.  You’ll be much happier for it.

Very informative article. Someone with great experience in the market can only become a coach. There are many who do fake promises to their customers and charge huge amount for their services.
